Saturday found Aaron and I spending endless hours trimming the bushes in the front yard. I was originally only on “help move the ladder” duty, but Aaron wanted me to stay because he needed me. There was no way I could say no to that.
One of us was so intent on trimming that they didn’t notice the extension cord was in the blades of the trimmer thereby cutting said extension cord in half. Aaron would say it was me, but since it’s my story and my blog, I say he was the one who did that.
Sunday brought the return of Noah, my boyfriend for the last 10 years. He up and left me for two Sundays and I don’t know how we survived without each other. He was more interested in eating his snack than telling me about his vacation or giving me hugs, but as soon as I brought out the gum he remembered how much he loves me. Even Keturah says we’re a #1 couple.
These two peeps came over after church for the 18th time in the last 25 days. That number is not an exaggeration. Willigers has spent half his summer with us and Hannah’s been here almost as often.
I think the amount of food- specifically the desserts- we give them keeps them coming back for more. Either that or we’re just naturally lovable people and they can’t resist us. 😉

Unless you count unloading the dishwasher and sweeping the floor as newsworth{which I don’t}there’s not much to report from the home front.
I will now take this opportunity to introduce the latest but totally not the greatest of my ideas reserved for such a time as this: I’m going to do picture catch-ups. It’s not a revolutionary idea{see: not the greatest idea}but I have pictures that for whatever reason weren’t posted and I feel they should be.
Exhibit A.
Exhibit B.
Elizabeth almost kissing the fish before they dissected it for biology.
I am witness to the fact that it did not, repeat DID NOT, turn into a prince.
Exhibit C.
After almost 6 months I’ve finally finished the sweater for baby Mari. It’s such an embarrassment that it took so long but I do have a good reason. Whenever I would get stuck on it during the week I’d have to put it on hold until Sunday when Mrs. Blaser would rescue me from whatever mess I got myself into. If I think about the length it took to make by the number of Sundays in 6 months,it makes me feel much better. Hopefully, it will still fit Mari because judging by the pictures, she’s a chubby little baby but Erika thinks it will still fit so I’m hoping for the best. Stephanie can always save it for the next babies.

Tomorrow night I’m going with my not-related-to-me peeps to a baseball game for Erin’s birthday. It’s bound to be a big event because 1) Erin is turning 20 and 2) Katie has never been to a real baseball game. Every summer I try getting her to one but it hasn’t worked out until now. Being that expert ball game attender that I am, I tried giving her some tips in the wardrobe department: DO NOT wear anything that has Johnny Damon’s name on it. He may be a great guy and all, but ever since he left the greatest team on earth for the you-know-who’s that play in New York and wear a big white NY on their hats, it’s unacceptable to wear his name. It’s really become a matter of personal safety. I, of course, will be wearing my Red Sox earrings and Jason shirt.
Jason Varitek, that is.

Being the budding astronauts that we are{not that I can actually spell the word without Spellchecker}, we went to a Starfest Saturday night to learn more about the sky above us. The first talk was about Kepler. The man informed us that what he was about to say wouldn’t include any math, but then he proceeded to show us this:
That looks like math to me.
The Starfest was held at Katie’s college but unfortunately, she couldn’t go because her Saturday calendar included bridal showers and cook-outs. She’s such a social butterfly. However, her parents came and brought children numbers 4,6,7,8,9,10 and 11. Anna blessed us with her cuteness.
We went on a very interesting walk where a basketball representing the sun was placed on top of a trashcan{very classy} and we’d walk ___ number of steps away to visualize how far each planet is from the sun and from the other planets. The guide would then show us a teeny, tiny ball that was scaled{in relation to the sun basketball}to the size of that planet. We only went Saturn due to the fact we’d have to walk all the way to another town to have the other planets accurately measured, but it was so cool to see how little the planets really are compared to the sun and each other.
Anna didn’t understand that portion of the night and found it much more entertaining to make faces at me.
At the end of the night, we were able to look through binoculars and telescopes out in the field. It was slightly disappointing because it didn’t seem as if I couldn’t see much more than when I looked straight at the sky, but it was interesting nonetheless. One thing I discovered on Saturday night was yet another bonus of having a large family…your chances of winning prizes sky-rockets. Between the 9 O’s there, they won 5 of the items being raffled. The rest of us didn’t even have a chance.
In other weekend news:
* I received a reply letter from James who’s in training in Georgia. Here’s how the letter started: “Hello,Sarah, I wasn’t expecting to get a letter from you“. I don’t understand that. I mean, I’m only the person who drove him home from school at least 60 times last year so he wouldn’t have to walk home in the cold. I’m only the person who took it upon myself to become his self-appointed sort-of sister because he has four brothers and needed a little help in life. How could I not write to him?
* Joanna and I went to her sister’s/our friends church on Sunday morning to hear reports on the missions trip some of them just took to the Dominican Republic. Joanna was holding her little nephew Nathan during the service and every time the music would start he’d raise his little arms and wave them all around. He’d make a great Pentecostal baby.

1.
I’ve been sleeping an average of 5-6 hours a night. It’s really not fair considering how much I love sleep. I mean, I’m even a fan on Facebook.
2.
I’ve been working an average of 11 hours a day{that’s including driving back and forth}
3.
Due to number 2, I have spent approximately 5 hours in the car and listened to approximately 162 country and 12 Christian songs along with an unknown number of talk radio minutes.
4.
Reason number 1 + reason number 2 + reason number 3 = very little time to blog
5.
Those darling, delicious twins were worth every hour I spent working today. Every single one.
{It’s possible I may become a mother tomorrow when I kidnap them.}
6.
I’m attending meetings for the camp I’m doing for children with cancer. The first meeting was tonight and I had to do things in front of people. I almost died but clearly, I’m still with us.
7.
There are way too many numbers in here for someone who doesn’t like math.
8.
And finally, Natalie was so kind as to give me this cute award on her blog{it’s quite appropriate as Gerber daisies are some of my favorites…have I mentioned that 1 or 63 times before?}:
Due to reasons #1, 2, 4, and 6, I am going to postpone linking to 12 other blogs. I will, however, give my acceptance speech:
“Thank you and good night.”

Previously discussed on this blog: weekend plans. We will now take a close look at how said weekend plans worked out.
* Helping Joanna at the homeless shelter went really well. I knew a lot more of the other helpers then I thought I would. I guess the news got out that I was going to be there so they all came. 😉 After we set the table, I was in charge of serving one spoonful of baked beans into each plate before handing it down the line for hot dogs and pasta. I’m pleased to report I didn’t spill anything on anyone. Joanna came back to my house for supper and after that, we talked and talked and it was just GREAT. I love girl talks.
* Willie didn’t end up getting a hair cut at Sarah’s Salon. I believe it has less to do with his possible thoughts that Sarah + the hair buzzer= hair tragedies of epic proportions {I actually have a lot of successful hair cutting practice} and more to do with his mom being his favorite stylist.
* One very interesting aspect of my weekend happened unexpectedly on Friday night. Joanna asked Autumn and I if we wanted to go to a concert she found nearby{she has a gift for finding just about every small band within a 100-mile radius}. Around lunchtime, Mom asked where the concert was so she knows exactly where we were{she’s such a mother}. I looked on the website only to discover they weren’t around here at all. They were playing in Chicago that night and here next Friday. Needless to say, we don’t exactly live within an evenings drive of Chicago so we had our girls night at Joanna’s house with our traditional Scrabble game and a movie. This little word, ‘zamia’, brought me 34 points and bumped me up to 2nd place. I have never in the history of Scrabble night come in anything less than 3rd/last. It was such a nice feeling.
And so my weekend passed. I hardly think the bug bites, difficult tv and sort-of losing to the boys in Kemps is worth noting. Especially that last one as I’m trying to remove it from my memory. The most exciting thing to look forward to this week in the Civil War ball on Saturday! 🙂

* Every Friday my family has Friday Night{aren’t we original?}. Grandma joins us as we eat supper in the living room and watch a movie. We had Friday Night last night which technically means it was Thursday Night and now I’m all confused. Thank goodness the week’s almost done because it’s chaos when I’m a day ahead of everyone else. Why have Friday Night on Thursday night? Aaron is having some of his friends over for a get-together tonight and the usual Friday festivities would get in the way. I guess the youth of today think they need to socialize for some reason. As Daniel would say, “they don’t make ’em like they used to.”
* OH MY GOODNESS. I saw the cutest little baby boy EVER at the hospital today. Dad’s say I say every baby is the cutest ever, but he really was. He was a little black baby with big dark eyes and curly black hair and the cutest smile. I have never had more of an urge to kidnap permanently borrow a child in my life. I’ll be taking him to custody court on Monday so I can have him for my own. I’m only going on Monday because I don’t have a car to use today.
* Weekend plans included, but are not limited to, the following:
– Tomorrow I’m going with Joanna to serve a meal at the local homeless shelter. As the sole member from her group not going to the Dominican Republic for a week, she asked me to go along to help. I think it will be an interesting experience. All my volunteer hours have been done at either the preschool, the children’s hospital or our girls club so this is completely different for me. I’m just praying I don’t spill anything on anyone. Those poor people deal with enough.
– As DOR{Director of Redecorations}for Dad’s new business, I’m busy trying to fulfill that role. I’ll probably spend quite a bit of time wandering the paper aisle at Staples over the weekend. Anyone know if you can buy vinyl paper there? {I mean the kind of vinyl that wall vinyls are made of.} Hopefully, I’ll leave Staples thinking “that was easy!”.
– Sarah’s hair salon has two booked customers: Shnuffy and Fufu{better known as Aaron and Willie}. Mom might also stop by for her beauty treatment.
* I made a craft today just because I love looking at pretty things{most of which I can’t afford} without even realizing how similar it is to this one I did last summer for fashion week. I love the flowers and all the colors!
